Zalakaros is one of Hungary’s most attractive tourist destinations. In addition to relaxation, there are plenty of entertainment and excursion opportunities available to visitors. Riding the Dotto sightseeing train is just one of these unmissable activities. This is the journey that offers an unforgettable experience for both young and old alike. Traveling on Zalakaros’s little train provides the opportunity to comfortably explore and admire the beauty of our town, discover the stunning panorama of the Kis-Balaton and the Balaton Uplands, as well as explore the hidden treasures of the villages visited along the way.
Visitors to the city have been able to experience this eco-friendly and safe attraction since 1998, which appears as a refreshing highlight on the streets of Zalakaros. During the journey, we can get to know Zalakaros’s charming streets, flower-filled parks, tree-lined promenades, sights, and even embark on a longer excursion. The comfortable train seats accommodate 90 adults or 120 children. In addition to the comfortable travel pace, passengers receive exciting commentary on the sights through the speakers, while they can take uninterrupted photos and videos from the panoramic cars. Bad weather is no obstacle to a pre-planned program: in case of rain or wind, transparent foil protects the passengers.
Everyone can choose from 3 routes according to their preferences and needs:
A city tour in Zalakaros is an unmissable program where we can admire this flourishing town while listening to the guided tour. During the tour, we can visit the Zalakaros Forester Lookout Tower, which offers a magnificent view of the Kis-Balaton, and if the weather is kind to us, we can even see Badacsony and Keszthely. Depending on demand, we can also visit the Szent Orbán and Arany Wine Taverns, and even by arrangement, we can get off the train at any stop and reboard at a pre-arranged time with the driver, using the ticket already purchased.
With the adventure trip, we have the opportunity for an exciting and fun city tour combined with a wine tour. As part of this program, guests arriving with the ADVENTURE BUS are welcomed with free wine tasting at the over 150-year-old Arany Cellar or the Szent Orbán Wine Tavern. In the peaceful and atmospheric wine cellars, the fragrant and flavorful wines offer special experiences during the wine tastings. Both places offer the opportunity to purchase and take away wine.
The ticket can be purchased from the driver upon boarding the Adventure Bus.
The Dotto train also offers a half-day excursion for those who are looking for a longer program and would like to look beyond the city limits. The trip to Kis-Balaton and the Buffalo Reserve will be an experience for both children and adults, during which we can get acquainted with the breathtaking world of Kis-Balaton, the Buffalo Reserve, and the wonderful treasures of the area, as well as the history of the surrounding villages. The interactive exhibition in the buffalo reserve’s reception building presents the extremely rich and unique wildlife of Kis-Balaton, and we can also get an insight into the daily lives of about 200 buffalo living on the 30-hectare area. The attraction of Kis-Balaton lies in its rich birdlife and enchanting natural environment. In addition to the observed nearly 250 bird species, many rare animal and plant species find refuge in this area.
Adult guests arriving by Dotto train can purchase discounted tickets to the Kápolnapuszta Buffalo Reserve. Departure from Dotto train stops, with a minimum of 10 adult registrations.
The ticket can be purchased from the Dotto train driver upon boarding.

One of the best hotels we've stayed at during our travels (worldwide!!!). Clean, spacious room (superior), excellent wellness area (we didn't even go to the large bath), and the breakfast and dinner offer a wide selection, with the food being incredibly delicious.
Marianna Glück-MolnárWe have been to the hotel at least ten times! We go every early summer and at the end of November! We love it; the waiters greet us as familiar faces and always have a few kind words for everyone!
Loretta Várnagyné HorváthThis was our second time returning to the Belenus Hotel, and once again, we were not disappointed! It is a very cozy, friendly, and charming hotel with a superb little wellness area that perfectly crowns a weekend getaway, along with great food at every meal.
Flóra FejesThe quality of service was excellent throughout our four-day stay. The hotel staff were exceptionally courteous, the room was clean and comfortable, we enjoyed delicious food in the restaurant, and the wellness area was very relaxing.
István HorváthWe travel the world from Peru to Nepal, but we regularly return to two places: Belenus and the Maldives. Great clay tennis court, unbeatable food, and excellent hospitality.
